Technique: Handcrafter Components
Skill Level: Intermediate


SUPPLIES NEEDED - Based on 8 Inch Bracelet

TOOLS NEEDED

    • Clean and straighten wire, then twist using pin vise or wire twister.


    • Heart Components - Cut 10 pieces twisted 22g wire 1 1/2" long. Place mark in middle of wire at ¾-inch and using round nose pliers placed on mark, wrap wire completely around tip of one tongue of the pliers forming a circle. It will look like the end of a safety pin.

    • Next form flat spiral circles on each end of wire making sure there is a hole in each of the centers and rolling spiral towards the center forming the hearts. Secure center of each heart with 2- 3 wraps of 26g wire. Tuck ends securely to make sure that it does not scratch. This will make a component; each component should measure approx 1/2" long.

    • Crystal Components - Cut wires only after making components. Next make components using crystals in dog-bone fashion...Form loop around tip of long nose pliers. Break neck to center. slip on crystal and lay wire at 90 degree angle, form loop at tip of round nose pliers; break neck to center and wrap wire to form complete circle. This will form a dog-bone component. Continue making components until all are made.

    • Hook - Cut one piece of 18ga wire 4". Mark and fold wire in half. Crimp gently at bend until wires lie side by side. Roll tip slightly upwards, then wrap both wires as one around the pliers to form the hook. Take each end of wire and angle it out @ 90 degrees from center, 1/8 inch past where the hook tip is. Trim and roll each end into loop to form circle. Hook should be approx. 1/2 in length.

    • Assembly - Start with on Heart laying on it's side and using jump rings made from rest of GF HH round wire (size approx. 6mm). Attach heart to Red crystal component (figure 7) and to hook facing up. Assemble alternating crystals (red and AB) with heart bottoms facing side, up, down and side. Finish with 10mm jump ring.

  • Earrings - Assemble with one AB crystal component, one heart on side and one red crystal component.
