I need suggestions for wrapping a pear-shaped cut stone with a point on the back. It is 17 carat. Help! Should I make a cage or something else?

Hi Kathleen, there are several ways to set a stone with a culet.
In the Advanced DVD series, one option is the "Orbit" prong pendant design. Another is the Prong Frame pendant design.
Both can be adapted for smaller stones to create earrings as well.
If you choose to use a frame, you'll need to add pattern wire in the center or use multiple wires to make the frame deep enough.
This helps prevent the culet from rocking against the skin, which can be uncomfortable.
I especially love working with pear-shaped stones they're easy to handle and very versatile!
