Wire Guard Tip

Instructions
I was in the studio working on a bracelet.

I had used the rolling mill to "print" a feather onto silver, then cut and finished the piece.

The clasp and jump rings were already made.

I knew I wanted to string some gorgeous turquoise rondelle beads onto leather specifically, 0.5mm leather.
What I didn't know was how I was going to attach the leather to the bracelet bar.

Leather that thin is prone to stretching and breaking.

I tried several options, including knotting, but I was still worried about durability.

Then a strange idea floated to the top of my mind odd, but if it worked... OMG, it would be awesome.
Digging through the finding boxes ensued. And I was successful.

In the past, I had made bracelets using thick beading wire and had to purchased large wire guards to accommodate the size of the beading wire.

I held my breath as I made a fresh diagonal cut at the end of the leather and threaded it through the wire guard.

SUCCESS!

I was almost giddy with delight.

Problem-solving in jewelry making is one of my absolute favorite parts of the process.

So, string the leather onto the wire guard and then sliding in onto the bracelet bar was a design saver.
