Answer:
In my opinion, the easiest way to decide where to place wraps on a freeform cab frame is to first trace the stone's shape on paper.
Next, wrap the cab's circumference with quilters' or painters' tape. Decide which side will be the top, then study the stone's shape.
Consider where the frame will need the most support and which features you want to keep visible without being covered.
Experiment with your drawing: if you place wraps in certain areas and pull the top wire, where will the wire rest on the stone?
Mark these wrap positions on the tape with a marker, then transfer the marks to your wire bundle remembering the right and left sides.
Finally, frame the cab and make the planned pulls based on your tape markings.
