No Time for Pickling
by Susan LeGuyader
To set the stage... there I was in the studio to whip out a pair of earrings, I only had a short time frame and I did not think to turn on my pickle pot (which I have on a timer by the way).
Instructions
I ended up making some balled headpins from sterling wire and you know how dirty with fire scale it gets. And there I was... no hot pickle pot.

First, I tried a Pro Polish pad. All that did was make the fire scale shiny. I thought about using sandpaper but then I would have to clean up the scratches made by the sandpaper. I pulled out a blue radial disk mandrel and my flex shaft.
That did the trick. Working both ends of the balled headpin really gave me the look I was going for, the pretty shiny silver color.

As you can see from the two headpins, this quick fix did a great job and I was finished with my project in no time... regardless of not having my pickle pot ready to go.
