Mixing Sterling Silver and Argentium

by Dale Armstrong
Question:

I am running low on wire inventory, and can`t afford to buy more stock just yet. I need to make some designs in all sterling.
Can I make a sterling project using both Sterling Silver and Argentium Sterling Silver, mixed?
Instructions
Answer:

I see no reason why you can't mix sterling silver and argentium silver in your jewelry designs.

The main difference is that sterling silver tarnishes black over time, while argentium tarnishes a pale blonde color.

I often combine sterling silver beads with argentium wire, and sometimes use both wires together.

When writing product descriptions for these mixed-metal pieces, be sure to list both metals.

This helps customers appreciate the unique qualities of their purchase.
