Cut a piece of 20 gauge wire 4” long and straighten it. Thread the briolette onto the wire. Measure ½” from the end of the wire and make 135 degree bend towards the center of the briolette.
Measure 1/16” from the edge of the briolette and grasp with the flat nose pliers. Make another 135 degree bend.

Once you have formed the triangle with the pliers, push the point of this triangle towards the stone by sliding your finger down the 2 wires.
This will not only make the triangle smaller, but will also make it perfectly even and the point of the triangle will be directly above the center point of the stone.
