Making a Wrapped Briolette

Top drilled drops and briolette can add a touch of class to any design. This is a quick and easy method of wrapping them. You can also use this technique to form a stylish bail on top drilled pendants.
Instructions
Make a triangle
Cut a piece of 20 gauge wire 4” long and straighten it. Thread the briolette onto the wire. Measure ½” from the end of the wire and make 135 degree bend towards the center of the briolette.
Measure 1/16” from the edge of the briolette and grasp with the flat nose pliers. Make another 135 degree bend.
Pro Tip: You need to be careful whilst forming the triangle, as the top of the briolette is the weakest point of the stone and if you bend the wire too close to the
Once you have formed the triangle with the pliers, push the point of this triangle towards the stone by sliding your finger down the 2 wires.
This will not only make the triangle smaller, but will also make it perfectly even and the point of the triangle will be directly above the center point of the stone.

Bend the wires
At the point where the 2 wires cross, grasp with the flat nose pliers one at a time and bend upwards 45°, so that they point straight up. Trim the short wire to 1/8”.

Form a loop
Grasp the long wire with the flat nose pliers, level with the end of the short wire and bend 45 degrees outwards.
Grasp just above this bend with the round nose pliers and form a loop, so that the straight wire forms a 90 degree angle with the drop.

Wrap the loop
In the same way as for the wrapped loop chain, wrap the straight wire around the 2 wires, keeping it at a 90 degree angle at all times.
Pro Tip: If your coils are not perfectly straight, use your nylon jaw pliers to straighten them up, by gently squeezing them together.
Trim and tuck the end in.
