Gluing Clasps to Leather and Ribbon
For all gluing the more prepared and organized you are the better it will go. Make sure everything fits and work out which way things will go etc... before you open your glue. I always have a trial run without the glue just to make sure I have everything I need and I'm ready to go.
Instructions
It's much easier to get a strong bond when the fit between two pieces is tight.
Use just enough glue to fill any crevices and fully cover the bonding area without it leaking out.
This is especially important with materials like leather or ribbon, where excess glue creates a shiny, unwanted finish.
A little glue goes a long way.
Work slowly to catch and correct any issues before the glue sets permanently.
Glue tends to hold better on uneven surfaces than on smooth ones.
Try roughing up the inside of findings or scratching a small ridge this gives the glue something to grip for a stronger bond.
