Get the Look of Eyelets

There is nothing wrong with an unadorned punched hole. Adding an eyelet might compromise or detract from the design.There is always a point where adding one more thing might be too much. But sometimes, a design just screams for a little something extra. Eyelets are great embellishments, except when they move or flatten during forming/finishing. Small 2mm ID 22 gauge jump rings, soldered in place, are excellent alternatives.They look just like eyelets, will stay in the exact place desired, and the top edge will still be round, not flattened as can sometimes happen when flaring the back of an eyelet. Also, there are no rough edges on the back, as can happen if the back of an eyelet tube splits when working on it.A 1.8mm hole punch can be used to make the hole after the jump ring is soldered in place..

Another problem with eyelets is that they are difficult to find in the sizes and metals you need. Tubing must be kept on hand in a variety of sizes and metals, and then be cut to the correct length to make eyelets for a project. It is so much easier to use jump rings in your designs.
