Recently, I was making a pair of earrings and needed an eye pin to connect the pieces of them. I made the traditional round eye pin because that's what we learn or may be the go-to shape.
The round eye pin did not fit in the component I was going to use (Photo 2). I sat there, for a few minutes and thought, "Huh, what am I going to do now?"
My mind went totally blank. And then the great Kate Richbourg's voice sounded in my head... "You are the boss of the metal!"
With that battle cry ringing in my head, I changed the shape of my eye pin. No one told me that eye pins must be round, it can be whatever shape I need it to be, to suit my needs.
It was a duh moment but really, sometimes we have to remember that wire can be whatever shape we need or want it to be, as needed.
I was able to finish my earrings (Photos 5 & 6). I'm pleased with the results and also please to remember that I'm the boss of making. It's a good thing to remember.
