Chain Maille Helper

If beginning your chain maille weaves is frustrating, here's a simple tip for keeping your rings neatly in place.
Instructions
The different patterns created by flipping rings in various orientations are what make chain maille so fascinating.

But that same quality also makes it tricky to master.

Rings can easily flip into the wrong orientation, making it confusing and frustrating to get the pattern back on track.

This issue is most common at the beginning of a weave, before the rings are properly secured and the pattern stabilizes.
My solution is to hold the weave in place with tape.

I use thick foam double-sided tape the foam lets you press the rings into it, so even weaves that aren't flat can be fairly well secured.

You still have access to the rings to continue the pattern.

This technique saves a lot of time since you don't have to reposition the rings every time you add a new one..
