Bending Wire to A Tight 90-Degree Bend

How often do you bend a wire hoping to get a tight 90-degree bend but you get a "U" shaped bend instead? This usually happens when you bend thicker wires. Here is a tip to get a tight 90-degree bend.

To get a dead sharp corner, secure the wire on the vice jaws.
Lightly hammer the bent portion along the side of the jaws to ensure a sharp 90-degree bend. Go slowly if you do not want to stress the bend area too much.

Before and After
This bend is made using flat nose pliers.
This bend is achieved using vise and hammering.
Alternatively, you can put a straight wire on the vice jaw, tighten the jaws, then bend the wire over the top to make a sharp bend, followed by hammering the wire over the vise jaws.
Stick one or two layers of masking tape on the jaws' surface to avoid or minimize tool marks on your wire when the jaws are tightened on the wire
