Adapting a Tutorial
by Judy Larson
Following a tutorial is a great way to learn a new skill as well as make a new-to-you piece of jewelry. Tutorials can also be looked at as suggestions or starting-off points for your own designs.
Instructions
The links in this bracelet are adapted from the round link in the Argentium Silver Scrap Chain tutorial.
Place metal pieces (no wider than 1/8") around a ¼" by 7/8" rectangle drawn on a solderite board. Three to four layers, each fused separately, should be enough. If they are not pushed in with a pick when molten, the corners may need to be cut off after each fusing to make a more oval link. Be careful and work quickly so the metal does not pull back

Because the links are long, they need to be curved a bit with bracelet bending pliers to better fit around the wrist.

A tutorial does not have to be followed exactly. Instead of scrap sheet, scrap wire was layered to make the "O" ring for the toggle. A ½" inner diameter circle drawn on solderite board and many pieces of rounded scrap wire was added around it. A solder pick helped to push the pieces together when they were slightly molten.
