Step 1
Materials: (x3) 6" segments of 20 gauge wire, 28 gauge weaving wire and on 10mm-14mm round cabochon. Tools: Chain nose pliers, round nose pliers, flush cutters and a ruler.

Step 2
Grab one of the segments of 20 gauge wire and wrap your 28 gauge weaving wire around the center of the wire 3 times.

Next, place another 20 gauge segment of wire on top and wrap the weaving wire around both wires 1 time and bring the wire in between both wires to start the next weave.

Step 4
Place another wire on top of the middle wire and wrap the weaving wire around both wires and bring it in between the top and middle wires.
Then wrap the weaving wire around ONLY the top 20 gauge wire.

Step 5
Next, wrap the weaving wire around ONLY the bottom wire 1 time. Then wrap the weaving wire around both the bottom and middle wire one time.

Bring the wire in between the bottom 2 wires and then wrap the weaving wire round the top two wires 1 time.

Finally, wrap the wire around the top wire 1 time.This is called the Modified Soumak Weave.

Repeat Step 5 three more times.

Once you've completed the weave, secure the weaving wire by wrapping it around the bottom wire 3 times and cutting off the excess. Then gently compress the weave together with your chain nose pliers.

Next, wrap your weaving wire around the middle base wire on either side until the single coil reaches about 3/4". Once you've coiled the wire, cut off the excess with your flush cutters and tuck in any burs.

Then lay your stone on a solid surface and begin "molding" the wire frame around the stone.

Step 9
Once you've situated the frame, bend the wires straight up from where the coiled base wires end. Then wrap your weaving wire around one of the back base wires 3 times.

Next, wrap the weaving wire around ALL the base wires 3 times.

Wrap the weaving wire around the front, left base wire one time. Then bring the wire behind the front, right base wire and then wrap the wire around the right base wire.

Finally bring the wire around both base wires.

Continue Step 10 until the weave measures about 3/4" to 1" long.

Finish the weave by wrapping the weaving wire around the base wire 3 times and cut off the excess. This will become the bail for the pendant.

Next, separate the remaining base wires. One on the left side and three on the right side.

Begin bending the woven wire back and then through the frame of the pendant.

Then, send one base wire each direction around the frame.

Next, create prong on the front side of the frame by gently bending the wires inward with your chain nose pliers.

Place the stone in the frame. Then, create prongs on the back of the pendant to secure the stone in place.

Grab the bottom, right base wire and begin to loop over top the bail. Then direct the wire around the frame of the stone.

Cut off the excess wire and tuck the wire behind the looped wire on the front of the pendant.

Create a single coil on the middle base wire on the right. You can start with about an 1" worth of coil and add more as needed.

Follow the previous loop with the coiled wire and around the frame like the previous steps.

Cut off the excess and tuck in the wire with your chain nose pliers.

Then, create a loop with the final base wire similar to the previous loops. And your piece is finished!
