I like nothing better than to sit and make things with wire and beads!! I find it incredibly relaxing and the possibilities are endless. My partner often jokes that he thinks I was a magpie in a previous life due to my love of shiny things.

Instructions
Step 1
Cut a piece of 22 gauge wire 14" long. Measure 4" along the wire and make a 135 degree bend, using the flat nose pliers. Thread the briolette onto the long length of wire. Using the flat nose pliers bend the long wire, tight against the briolette, so that the 2 straight wires cross at the point of the stone. At this point, bend the short wire 45 degrees, so that it points straight upwards and the long wire 45 degrees downwards so that it is at a right angle to the short wire.

Step 2
Hold the scrap piece of 22 gauge wire against the back of the briolette, grasp this wire against the short wire with the long nose pliers just above the top of the briolette and begin to wrap the long wire around the stone.
Notice how the pliers stop the coiled wire sliding up the straight wire.

Step 3
Once you have made a few wraps, you may find it easier to hold the briolette with your fingers, holding the scrap wire in place with your thumb. Continue wrapping until you are just past the hole. Make a 90 degree bend in the wrapping wire, using the flat nose pliers, at the point where the scrap wire comes out of the bottom of the wrapping.

Step 4
Hold the briolette with your index finger pushing the wrapping at the front against the stone. Pull the scrap wire out and carefully pass the wrapping wire through the gap this leaves, it may take a little wiggling to get to the top. Pull until the bend in the wire sits flush with the wrapping and the top of the wrapping wire is parallel with the straight wire.

Step 5
Make a 45 degree bend in the two straight wires, form a double wrapped loop using the round nose pliers and wrap twice around the top of the wrapped briolette to secure.

Step 6
Trim the 2 tails at the back and carefully tuck the tails in with the flat nose pliers, so that when you run your finger across the back it does not snag. Notice how the ends are not visible as they are hidden in the wrapped wire.
Pro Tip: While wrapping the briolette, hold the long wire at the very end, pulling it straight as you wrap.

Add ear wires, for an elegant pair of earrings, or use as a part of a more complicated design
