Waist Chain with Malachite Drops

We'll begin by making a wrapped loop bail for a top or side-drilled bead.

Use nylon jaw pliers to straighten the wire as needed. Then, measure and cut four pieces of 2-inch wire to create the bead bail.

Center the bead on one piece of wire.

Bend both ends of the wire upward along the sides of the bead.

Next, bend one end straight up the center of the bead. Bend the other end horizontally.

Coil the horizontal wire around the vertical wire one or two times.

Make sure your coil is wrapped tightly at the base of the stem.

Form a wrapped loop with the straight wire. Start by bending the wire at a 90-degree angle at the stem.

Use round nose pliers to form a loop around the stem.

Coil the loop around the stem.

Cut off any remaining wire from both pieces. Cut as close to the stem as possible.

Use flat nose pliers to gently press the wire ends so they lay flat against the stem.

Make the wrapped loop bails for all of the beads.

Open all 6 jump rings.

Cut the wire into two pieces.

Measure and cut one piece at 30 ½ inches.

Measure and cut the second piece at 33 ½ inches.

Cut 2 pieces of wire, each 2 to 3 inches long.

Fold each piece of chain in half to find the center. This will be the back section of the waist chain.

Thread one piece of wire through the center link of each chain to mark the center back.

Open one jump ring and thread it through both center chain links to join them.

Remove the marker wires, add the bead drop to the jump ring, then close the jump ring.

Starting at the center back, bring the chains together to form the front swag design. Use the longer chain to create the swag.

Measure about 1 inch from the end of the longer chain. Attach one bead to the end link using a jump ring. This creates the drop at the chain's end.

Close the jump ring securely.

At the 1-inch mark, connect a larger 8mm jump ring to a smaller 6mm jump ring. Close the 8mm ring.

Loop the 6mm jump ring through the end of the shorter chain and also through the 1-inch mark on the longer chain. Close the ring.

Position the remaining jump rings and bead drops about 5 inches from the chain ends.

Loop each jump ring through the bead and both chain loops, then close the rings.

Add the final jump ring to the clasp and both chain ends.

Close the ring and adjust the fit as needed.
