Instructions
Step 1
Materials and tools for this project are shown on this picture. I will use 16ga (1.25mm) and 22ga (0.6mm) wires.
This stone is a 12mm cab.

Step 2
Once the length of your ring band has been measured, we have to cut a base wire of the 16ga (1.25mm) wire, which must be 3cm longer than the length of your ring band. For example: I will make a ring size 8 (US size), which has a 6cm long ring band. My base wire should be 6+3cm long, 9cm exactly.

Hold the right end of your base wire tight within the bottom of the round-nose pliers, as shown on this picture.

Bend the base wire tightly around one side of the round nose pliers, as shown here, to make a loop with this wire end.
This is the result we must get.

Step 5
At the point where the loop ends, hold the wire tight within the chain-nose pliers and bend it slightly to make it straight.
This is the result we must get.

Step 6
Position the loop over the ring mandrel, over the size you wish to make.

Hold the loop tight between your fingers and the mandrel, then bend the wire end all around the mandrel, as shown here.

Separate the wire from the mandrel. This is the result we must get.

On the right side of the loop, at the point where the wire end meets with this loop, hold it tight within the chain-nose pliers and bend it 90 degrees upwards.

Now bend this short wire end all around the top of the loop, as shown on this picture.

If the wire end is longer than the top of the loop, cut off the extra end of it.

Using chain-nose pliers, bend the wire end close to the loop, to follow the same path.

Now cut a 12" (30cm) long wire of the 22ga (0.6mm) wire. Position the initial end of this wire behind both wires on the right side of the loop, then wrap it 2 times around these 2 wires, as tight as you can.

Bend the 22ga (0.6 mm) wire outwards, as we will make the first prong.

Step 15
If you are using a stone between 10-12mm, then measure 0.6cm on the 22ga (0.6mm) wire. At this point bend it upwards with the help of the chain nose pliers. If you are using a bigger stone, then you might need to make a slightly longer prong.

Now bend the wire completely to the left side, and squeeze it with the chain-nose pliers until it is completely closed.
(I will show you this step with more details during on the next prong.)

Once this first prong is ready, move the wire end behind the base wires of the loop.

Insert the wire end into the loop, then pull it to the front through the loop. Once it is on the front, straighten the wire as much as you can.
Now wrap it 4 times around both wires at the top of the loop.

Step 19
We have to make a second prong, following the same measuring steps. In my case it will be another 0.6cm long prong. Measure the same length as we did with the first prong, then bend the wire end upwards as shown here.

Here I will show you with more detail, how to finish the prong. First bend the wire to the left side, as shown here.
Now squeeze the bent part with the chain-nose pliers, until it is completely closed.

Again, insert the wire end into the loop, then pull it completely to the front and straighten it.

Step 22
Wrap the 22ga (0.6mm) wire 4 times around both wires of the loop.

Make a third prong on this side of the loop, following exactly the same steps as we did before, then wrap the 22ga (0.6mm) wire 2 times around both wires of the loop.

Step 24
Pull the 22ga (0.6mm) wire to the front through the loop, then position it close to the right side of the loop.
Wrap it 2 times around the loop as shown with the arrow.

Step 25
Now we have to make another 3 prongs on this other side of the loop, this time 0.1cm longer than the previous prongs. In my case these prongs will be 0.7cm long. Measure the corresponding length then bend the wire downwards as shown here.

Now bend it to the left side direction and pressure it with the chain-nose pliers until it is completely closed.

Take the wire to the front through the loop, then straighten it as much as you can.

Like we did on the other side of the loop, wrap the 22ga (0.6mm) wire 4 times around the loop.

Now repeat the same steps to make the other 2 prongs of the same size as the first one (on this side of the loop). Once all 3 prongs are ready, wrap the 22ga (0.6mm) wire 2 times around the loop.

Step 30
Leave a very short end on the 22ga (0.6mm) wire. Cut off the extra end of it.

Using chain nose pliers, bend this short wire end backwards then squeeze it until it is completely closed.

Position your stone over the loop as shown on this picture.

Step 33
Hold the stone tight between your fingers and the wire structure. With your fingers, bend all the 6 prongs to the front, as much as you can. Make sure that the distance between each prong is approximately the same, otherwise you can move them slightly, to reposition them.

With the help of the chain nose pliers or nylon-jaw pliers, squeeze each prong end over the stone, until the prongs are holding the stone very tightly.
Your beautiful ring is done!
