I love looking around the wirejewelry.com website. When I came across these beautiful gemstone connectors, I decided to purchase two of each so I could make a long multi-gemstone necklace for both my daughters. However, I loved this necklace so much that I kept both for myself to wear together. Sorry, girls!

Following these directions, this approximately 64" long necklace could be worn looped around three times with no clasp. Change the length of chain, the type, shape and number of beads used, and the metal chosen to make a completely different necklace.

Instructions
Step 1
You'll need two matching 4mm Swarovski beads for each link. Faceted round or bicone beads were paired with all but the mother-of-pearl link where a Swarovski pearl was used and the carnelian, where red-orange glass beads were used.
Read through the directions before beginning the project.
Each finished bead link will be approximately 1-5/8" (41mm) long when using components from the materials list. Set out the components in a manner pleasing to you. This is a great time to raid your stash for pretty beads to go with the teardrop connector links.

Step 2
Note: Steps 2 through 7 are for one link. Repeat for all the beads.
Cut two 3 ½" pieces of 22 gauge wire for each connector link. Do not worry about flush cutting the ends at this point.
Step 3
Grasp the center of one wire with the tips of a flat nose pliers. Bend one side down at about a 70 degree angle.

Step 4
Use the Acculoop precision round nose pliers to make a 2mm loop next to the bend using the wire bent down in Step 3.

Step 5
Slide the connector ring on one end of a bead onto the wire loop. Make two wraps with the wire tail, starting a wire wrapped loop. DO NOT cut the wire tail off at this point.

Step 6
Slide a 4mm bead on the wire. Use the tips of a very narrow flat nose or bent nose pliers pushed up against the bead to determine where to make the next bend. Bend the wire so the loop made in the next step will be in line with the wire wrapped loop made in Step 5.

Step 7
Use the Acculoop precision round nose pliers to make a 2mm loop next to the bend. DO NOT wrap the wire tail to finish a wire wrapped loop at this point.

Step 8
Repeat Steps 2 through 7 on the other end of the gemstone connector link. Make sure the loops are in line with each other.

Step 9
Repeat Steps 2 through 8 with all the gemstone connector links.

Step 10
Cut the chain into enough 3" sections to match the number of gemstone links being used. Here, the chain sections are about 3-1/8" long because the small links between the 2mmx3.5mm links would not fit on the 22 gauge wire used on the gemstone connector links. Note: When cutting the chain sections, discard the cut links in a scrap box to recycle later. Because the chain is delicate, cut links will not be strong enough to remain closed during wear

Step 11
Slide a chain end onto a loop on one end of each gemstone/Swarovski link. Make sure that the chain is attached to the same end of each link so the teardrop gemstone sections are all facing in the same direction after the necklace is finished. Make two wraps with the wire tail, starting a wire wrapped loop. DO NOT cut the wire tail off at this point.

Step 12
Adjust the wire wrap tails so each side of the Swarovski bead has an equal number of wraps. Be careful to not wrap the wires too tightly as the crystal bead may break. Trim the wire tails with the flush cutter. Use the tips of chain nose pliers to press the cut wire ends in.

Step 13
At this point, adjustments can be made in the color positioning of the beads. Here, it was decided to go with Light, Dark, Light, Dark, etc.

Step 14
Concentrate on the placement order and follow Steps 11 and 12 to connect the sections together.
