Instructions

Step 1

Use the bail step plier.

Make continuing coils around one part of the mandrel.

Step 2

Use the bail step plier.

Step 3

Cut the coil evenly.

Make the wire ends parallel with each other.

Leave five full coils.

Step 4

Make another one in the same way.

This gives you two coil springs of wire.

Step 5

Pry open the end of one of the coils slightly.

Slot the other full coil into the opened section of the other coil.

Step 7

Use a twisting motion.

Screw the two coil springs together.

This interlinks the coils.

When they are fully twisted together, the ends of the coils should sit inside of each other.

Step 9

Compress the rotation of the coils together.

Do this on the half that was slightly opened.

This ensures they interlock fully.

Step 10

You have created a "Love Knot Bead" component.

Add it to bracelets, necklaces, or earrings.

Incorporate the "Love Knot Bead" into jewelry.

Thread it onto your base wire, stringing material, or pin.

Run it through the space where the twisted coils interlock.

Gently squeeze both sides of the coil together.

This exposes the small opening and centers the "Love Knot."

Thread the base wire, stringing material, or pin through the center.

Run it out through the other side.

I first discovered my love of wire work during lockdown and this hobby quickly spiralled into a huge passion and obsession, for wire wrapping crystal gemstones. So much so, that I changed my career working in education, to become a jewellery designer and set up my business Rock, Scissors, Paper specialising in wire wrapped, ethically sourced gemstone jewellery. I also secured my dream job designing and teaching for the UK's largest supplier of beads for jewellery making!
