Memory wire is a versatile material to have in your jewelry making arsenal. There are different sizes of wire: large and regular round and oval, plus ring size. Just think, with a couple of beads and chain nose pliers you can make a simple wrap bracelet or ring.

I was thinking about what would happen if you used a clasp with a memory wire bracelet? Memory wire would give structure and a clasp would provide security. I had to try it! As they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained. One thing that I did learn through this adventure, is the way I assembled this bracelet, it makes it easy to clasp by yourself. And if you have arthritis, you can still manage it. That's a win as well.

Instructions
Step 1
First, assemble your supplies and tools. For this project, you only need three tools, a set of memory wire cutters, chain nose pliers and round nose pliers. And materials, you need beads (my favorite part) and a clasp. You can go in with intention design and colorway or you can use up some bead soup. It all works well.

Step 2
Use the memory wire cutters to cut three loops of wire. Cut in the center of the loop, then cut to desired length. Be careful of where you cut, if you cut at the top of the oval, then your clasp will be on the side of your wrist, not the middle.

Step 3
Next, use your round nose pliers to make a loop to attach to the clasp.
I'm using a three loop slide clasp, so attach all the loops of memory wire to one side.
I've found it easier to do all of one side first. Set up your bead selection
I use a small jelly roll pan to keep everything together. Select the middle wire and load your beads. When you come to the end, leave about 1" to make your loops and attach to the clasp.
Do the same with the remaining two wires.

Step 4
When attaching the memory wire to the clasp, make your loop so it faces down. It makes for a cleaner look to the finished bracelet. When attaching the wire to the clasp, make two passes of the wire for each loop on the clasp and pay attention to the end of the wire. Tuck the wire end into the loop so it does not catch on skin or clothes.
Pro Tip: Please do not use your good cutters to cut memory wire, it is steel and will chew them up. Use a pair of old cutters or invest in a pair of memory wire cutters.

I chose the large oval memory wire for this bracelet, it fits a larger wrist, as I am a plus-size lady. If you have a small wrist, use the regular sizes available in oval or round.
