Front-Back Necklace

Open jump rings, one 6mm for each end to hold the pendant, one 8mm to attach the pendant to the chain.

Create a design for the central pendant.

Measure 9 inches of chain. Use the wire cutters to carefully cut each piece of chain. This will be the middle chain.

Measure 24 inches of chain. Cut with the wire cutters.

Attach the central pendant to the jump ring. Close the jump ring. Thread it onto the middle chain.

Add a 6mm jump ring to each side of the middle chain. Measure 7 inches up from the center of the long chain to attach the middle chain to the main necklace.

Add jump rings to the end of the necklace, then attach each side of the clasp. Close the jump rings.

Measure an inch from each side of the clasp. Thread the wire through one chain link, halfway, then twist.

Use a piece of 20 gauge wire to design a central pendant for the necklace front.

Make a simple wire wrapped loop at the base of your design.

When the pendant design is complete, use the flat nose pliers to start a wire wrapped loop.

Holding the pendant, use the flat nose pliers to bend the wire to a 90 degree angle.

Using the round nose pliers, form a loop.

Open a 8mm jump ring to hang the pendant from the necklace chain.

Wrap the remaining wire around the loop 2 or 3 times.

Cut off any remaining wire.

Attach the jump ring, with the pendant to the chain.

Close the jump ring using flat nose pliers, one in each hand.

At this point in your design, try this on.

You may want to play with proportion if the middle chain and pendant are not aligned.

Cut 2 pieces of 20 gauge silver wire into 1 inch pieces.

Thread a 4mm bead onto each piece of wire.
Using round nose pliers make an open loop on each end facing away from each other.

These are the connectors to the necklace back.

Design the components of the necklace back.

Place the beads, headpins, 20 gauge wire for wrapping the beads, and jump rings together on your mat.

Assemble each bead with end to end wire wrapped loops.

Connect the end of each chain with a bead connector.

Close one side of the bead connector around one end of the chain.

Attach the necklace back pendant to the back chain

Attach the second side of each bead connector to the front chain necklace in the back.

Make any adjustments at this point between the clasp, back, and front hanging chain.

Adjustment steps if needed

Carefully undo the connector chain to the necklace to adjust as needed.

Use the round nose pliers to rework the design, opening, and closing the wire around the chain.

Here is the back of the necklace, closed with the clasp.

You must open the clasp, and put it on over your head, with the back pendant in back first, then close the clasp.

Finished necklace with the front and back chain attached.
