As an ode to the bustling tones of this brilliantly colored fungus, I crafted a netted hoop pendant with hammered
copper, aventurine, horn, red tiger eye, copper, faceted labradorite, and obsidian beads. Of course, you can choose your favorite beads and colors for your own.

Step 1
Begin with your stepped mandrel pliers and 6 inch piece of 16 gauge wire. Using the 2nd smallest peg on the mandrel pliers,
create a closed loop at one end of the 16 gauge wire.

Step 2
Wrap the 16 gauge wire around something wide and circular, with the unfinished end slightly crossing over the looped end.

Using the stepped mandrel again, use the smallest peg to make a hook on the unfinished edge of the 16 gauge wire. Leave this end open

Leaving circle open, hammer it flat using chasing hammer and steel block to work-harden the shape.

Using the ball-end of the hammer, add texture to the flattened side of the circle.

Hook the open end of the 16 gauge wire around the base of the closed loop end and pinch closed with flat chain nose pliers.

Step 7
Now that the base frame is complete, pick up your 26 gauge or similar weaving wire.
● Begin by wrapping three or four times around one
side of the bail loop.
● Then, without detaching or cutting, wrap three or four
times around the other side of the bail loop to secure
the weaving wire.
● Snip the excess and tuck in close to base frame

Cross the weaving wire toward the center of the base circle.
● add your first bead and bend the weaving wire back toward the outside of the base circle,
keeping the wire on the same side you started on.

Step 9
Wrap the weaving wire around the base wire 1.5 times, leaving the free end in the back of the circle.
● Thread the free end through the loop with the bead,
from back to front, and cross over the top of the
bottom wire of the bead-loop.
● Repeat this process until you come back around to
the beginning (see step 10 to finish the round).

Add your last bead.
● Cross the weaving wire over the bottom of the first
bead-loop wire, next to the coils you made to add the
wire to the base frame.
● Thread the weaving wire through the last bead-loop
and cross over the last bead-loop wire.

Thread the free end of the weaving wire through the first bead, so your next round starts in the center of the first loop.

Add your next bead color to the first loop of the second round.
● Thread the weaving wire from front to back into the
center of the next beaded loop from the previous
round.
● Thread the weaving wire underneath the loop wire
you are attaching, from back to front, and cross over.
● Repeat this process until you add the last bead.

When you get to the last of this round, add your last bead.
● Thread the weaving wire to the center of the first
round, first loop, where you began the second round.
● Thread the weaving wire through the first bead of the
second round.

NOTE: Once you have reached your center round, you might need to either
a: reduce the size of the beads, or b: reduce the number of beads. In my
case, my center beads were too large to use the same number as I did in
the other rounds, so I skipped 2 beads in the previous round's pattern.
Repeat the same process in steps 11-13 to add your final round of beads. Reduce the size of bead or the number of beads as needed.
● Cross the weaving wire over the first wire of the first
bead in the final round.
● Thread the weaving wire from front to back.
● Continue back to the center wire of the last bead-loop
you added in the final round, and thread the weaving
wire from back to front.
● Thread the weaving wire through the last bead and
snip.
