Instructions
Step 1:
Prepare the wire
The first thing to do is shape the ring shank. This tutorial is based on ring size 'S' or '9.5'.

To calculate the required size for your ring, check the mm length on the chart, less 6mm for the bead and add 2 x 10mm (2cms) for the loops. So, for ring size 'S': 60mm-6mm+20mm=74mm.

Straighten the wire by holding one end with the chain nose pliers and pulling the length through the jaws of the nylon jaw pliers

Step 2:
Shape the shank
Hold the wire against the desired size on the ring mandrel
Carefully push the wire into place to form a perfect circle.

Step 3:
Form the loops
Grasp one end with the round nose pliers, turn the pliers upwards to form a very small loop, using the very tip of the pliers. Repeat on the other end.

Step 4:
Round the loops
Notice how the loops aren't round at the moment and more of an egg shape. To make them round, position the flush cutters so that the flat edge of the blade is against the loop and the blade is at a 90° angle to the shank wire.
Snip the very tip of the wire off on both sides. Notice how this opens the loops up again.

Step 5:
Close the loops
Insert the tip of the round nose pliers into the loop again and close the loop by turning the pliers

Step 6:
Reposition the loops
To allow the bead to be fitted, we need to reposition the loops, so that they face each other. Grab one with the flat nose pliers and carefully turn the loop, so that it points up, making sure not to distort the shape of the ring shank.

Repeat on the other side. Return the ring shank to the ring mandrel to check the size and shape and adjust if necessary.

Note: - the gap between the loops should be 6mm

Step 7:
Attach a new wire
In preparation for attaching the bead, cut a 25cm length of 28-gauge wire. Secure to one side of the ring shank, by coiling the center of the 28-gauge wire 5 times.

Keep the coils straight and tight by keeping the wire at a 90° angle to the shank at all times.

Slide the coils together with your thumb nail. Thread the wire through the first loop.

Step 8:
Attach the bead
Thread a bead onto the wire and position between the loops. Pass the wire through the second loop on the other side and coil the shank 5 times.

Step 9:
Overlap the wrapping
Bring the 28-gauge wire back to the loop, by overlapping the existing coils.

Take care to ensure that the new coils 'lock' into place in the existing ones

Step 10:
Final step
Secure the 28 gauge wire, by coiling 3 times, ensuring that the new coils 'lock' into to place in the existing ones.

Trim the wire on the outer edge of the ring shank, so that the wire end is not sitting against the skin.

Tuck the end in using the chain nose pliers.
