Helm chain maille is an easy chain maille weave to master. It has a beautiful pattern which can be embellished with beads. The foundation chain for this chain maille weave is a simple 2-1-2 chain, then larger ornamental rings are added.

Step 1
Using the 4mm smaller rings, attach 2 rings to the ring on the ear wire.

Step 2
Take an open ring and go through both rings and close the ring.

Step 3
Add 2 rings to the single ring.

Take an open ring and go through both rings and close the ring.

Add 2 rings to the single ring.

Step 6
Take an open ring and go through both rings, add 3 beads onto the ring, and close the ring.

Step 7
Using the 6mm larger rings, weave an open ring between the 2 rings at the top of the earring.

This ring goes between rings and around rings but never through a ring.

Add 2 beads and weave the ring between the 2 middle rings, add 2 beads and close the ring.

You may need to use chain-nose pliers to close this ring.

Step 8
Take an open 6mm ring and weave it between the middle 2 rings and add 2 beads.

Weave the ring between the bottom 2 rings, add 2 beads and close the ring.
