Step 1

Straighten about 40 inches of 29AGW wire and slide eight beads of color A onto the center of the wire.

Step 2

Next, add on seven pieces of colour "B"

Step 3

Bring the wire from the side with the color A beads back through all of the color B beads and pull the wires apart to create two rows, with the B beads sitting on top of the A beads.

Gently press the beads together with your thumb and fingers to flatten the rows against each other.

Step 4

Add six beads of color B onto one wire end.

Bring the other wire end back through these beads so the wires pass through the drill holes in opposite directions.

Step 5

Gently pull the wire ends away from each other to form this next row.

Step 6

Add five beads of color B onto one wire end.

Bring the other wire end back through these beads in the opposite direction to create the next row.

Step 7

Add four beads of color B onto one wire end and bring the other wire end back through these beads to form the next row.

Each new row should gradually decrease in size so every row is slightly smaller than the one beneath it.

Step 8

Add three beads of color B onto one wire end and bring the other wire end back through these beads to form the next row of the Angel's body.

Step 9

Add two beads of color B onto one wire end and bring the other wire end back through these beads to form the final row of the Angel's body.

Step 10

Add four beads of colour "B" onto one of the wire ends and one bead of colour "A"

Step 11

Skip the last bead of color A, then take that same wire end back through all four of the color B beads to form the arm.

Step 12

Add four beads of color B onto the wire on the opposite side of the Angel's body, followed by one bead of color A.

Step 13

Skip the last bead of color A, then pass the same wire end back through all four color B beads to form the other arm.

Step 14

Gently pull the wires taut to remove any gaps between the beads.

Run the wires vertically up from the Angel's shoulders.

Step 15

Add two beads of color B onto one wire end.

Bring the other wire end back through these beads in the opposite direction so the beads sit directly on top of the last two shoulder beads.

This forms the start of the Angel's neck.

Step 16

Start forming the wing by adding ten beads of colour "A" onto one of the wire ends.

Step 17

Bring the same wire back through only the second-to-last bead and pull taut so the beads sit flush together.

Step 18

Add seven beads of color A onto the wire.

Bring the wire back through the two color B beads that form the neck.

Step 19

Bring this wire up out of the way, ready to start forming the wing on the opposite side.

Step 20

To create the next wing, add ten beads of colour "A" onto the other wire end.

Step 21

Bring this same wire back through, just the second to last bead, and pull taut.

Step 22

Add seven beads of color A and pass the wire through the two color B beads that form the neck.

Bend the wings out of the way and use pliers to guide the wire through if needed.

Step 23

Once both wings are formed, position the wires in an upward direction.

Step 24

Add one bead of color B onto one wire end.

Bring the opposite wire end back through the same bead in the opposite direction to complete the Angel's neck.

Step 25

Add the large 10mm bead onto one wire and pass the other wire through it to form the Angel's head.

Pull the wires apart so the head bead sits centrally on top of the neck bead.

Step 26

Place two beads of color A onto each wire end, positioning them on either side of the head bead.

Step 27

Cross the wires over each other so that these beads meet to form the halo

Step 28

Twist the wires together to bind them.

Once the wires are twisted together, cut the ends flush.

Step 30

Use the length of twisted wire to create a hanging loop.

Shape the wire into a loop and make a wrapped loop at the top of the halo of beads to secure it in place.

Once the wire is secured, cut off any excess wire if required and tuck in the ends firmly with pliers.

Shape the wings and arms of the Angel into position.

I first discovered my love of wire work during lockdown and this hobby quickly spiralled into a huge passion and obsession, for wire wrapping crystal gemstones. So much so, that I changed my career working in education, to become a jewellery designer and set up my business Rock, Scissors, Paper specialising in wire wrapped, ethically sourced gemstone jewellery. I also secured my dream job designing and teaching for the UK's largest supplier of beads for jewellery making! I make lots of different jewellery designs with a variety of techniques but my absolute favourite is wire work and I feel absolutely blessed that I can spend my time creating, learning and sharing my passion with others!
