Instructions
Step 1
Cut 20cm/8 inches of 0.8mm/20-gauge wire and attach the wire onto a coiling tool, dowel or knitting needle by wrapping it three times to anchor it on and secure.

Step 2
Add on approximately 40 size 8 seed beads to the wire.

Step 3
Gently push up the seed beads toward the top of the wire with your fingers to ensure that they sit close together with no gaps between them.

Step 4
Wrap the seed-beaded wire around the dowel to create a coil.

Step 5
Continue to create three wraps around the dowel after all the seed beads are in place.

Step 6
Slide the coiled component off the dowel or knitting needle.

Step 7
Trim off the excess wire in line with the last seed bead.

Step 8
Do the same on the other side of the component, so that there are an even number of finishing wraps on each side.
Natalie Patten's Beaded Coiled Wire Beads - , Contemporary Wire Jewelry, Coiling, Coiling Wire, Wire Coiling, Beads, trim the wire on the other side of the bead
Step 9
Use chain-nose pliers to gently pinch in the last part of the coil slightly, to bring it in line with the coil and to prevent any sharp ends of the wire from sticking out.
Pro Tip: Using this gauge of wire with approximately forty size 8/0 seed beads will make each component around 1 inch long.

You can change the size of wire and seed beads (as long as the seed beads fit onto the wire) and vary the amount of coils around the dowel you make.

If you use the same amount of seed beads each time you make a coiled component they will be fairly consistent in size to each other.

Step 10
Create or use an eye pin and thread the eye pin through the center of the beaded coil.
Natalie Patten's Beaded Coiled Wire Beads - , Contemporary Wire Jewelry, Coiling, Coiling Wire, Wire Coiling, Beads, insert an eye pin through the bead
Step 11
Bend the pin to 90 degrees, horizontally, close to the other end of the coil.

Step 12
Trim off the eye pin, leaving around a centimeter of the pin from the bend at the top of the coiled component.

Step 13
Use round-nose pliers to create a simple loop on this end to make a double ended connector.
Natalie Patten's Beaded Coiled Wire Beads - , Contemporary Wire Jewelry, Coiling, Coiling Wire, Wire Coiling, Beads, created a simple loop
Step 14
Make multiple of the components and attach them together with jump rings or chain to make bracelets and necklaces.

One end of the eye pin can also be attached to an earring hook.

Add a bead to the bottom to make earrings.
