This design demonstrates how to use a fine weaving wire to stitch together your favorite beads into a circular motif. They can be worn as pretty earrings and a matching pendant.

Instructions

Step 1

Cut 30cm/12 inches of 0.3mm/28-gauge wire and add 4 beads into the centrer of the wire.

Step 2

Add on another bead to one side and bring the other tail end of the wire back through the same beads drill hole in the opposite direction.

Step 3

Draw the wire tails away from each other to form a loop of beads.

Step 4

Add two beads onto the left side and one bead onto the right side of the wire.

Step 5

Add on one bead to one side of the wire and draw the tail end of the opposite side of the wire through the same bead.

Step 6

Pull both sides of the wire firmly to form the second beaded loop.

Step 7

Form the third loop by adding two beads onto the left side and one bead onto the right side.

Step 8

Add on another bead to one side, bringing the other side through the same bead, passing through the drill hole in the opposite direction to form the loop.

Step 9

Continue to make the loops in this way, by adding two beads onto the outer side and one onto the inner side of the wire, the loops will start to curve to form a circle.

Step 10

Continue this pattern until you have formed seven loops almost creating a full circle.

Step 11

To form the last loop of beads, add two beads onto the outer side.

Step 12

Add one bead onto the inner wire.

Step 13

Bring the inner side wire with one bead on it, through the first bead on the starting loop of beads already formed that is closest to it.

Then pass this tail end back through the bead on the right-hand side, so that the wires cross through the drill hole in the opposite direction.

Step 15

Pull the wires away from each other to close the last loop and complete the circle.

Step 16

Bring the tail wire that is now coming out of the right side all the way through the next four beads in this loop. Be gentle while pulling the wire back through the beads so that it does not snap.

Step 17

Both tail ends of the wire should now be positioned in the top loop, so that they meet in the center, exiting out of the top two beads.

Step 18

Bring one of the tail ends of the wire through between the beads.

Step 19

Wrap it around the wire running through the beads three times to secure.

Step 20

Wrap the other wire through the center to bind and secure it to the frame also.

Step 21

Cut off the tail end of wire close to the frame.

Step 22

Tuck in the end of the wire so that it finishes on the underneath of the earring or pendant away from the outer edges.

Step 23

Do the same with the other wire, cutting it off and tucking in firmly to the frame.

Step 24

Attach the earring hook over the space between the beads where the wrapped wire is secured and make your other earring to match.

Step 25

Or add a jump ring and chain to create a pendant.

I first discovered my love of wire work during lockdown and this hobby quickly spiralled into a huge passion and obsession, for wire wrapping crystal gemstones. So much so, that I changed my career working in education, to become a jewellery designer and set up my business Rock, Scissors, Paper specialising in wire wrapped, ethically sourced gemstone jewellery. I also secured my dream job designing and teaching for the UK's largest supplier of beads for jewellery making!
