This beautiful bangle is created with two gauges of wire - one to add structure, the other to add an elegant frame around the beads. This design incorporates a shepherd hook style clasp using the same base wire for additional durability and strength.

Instructions

Step 1

Take two lengths of 22-gauge wire at 32 inches each and fold them together in the in half from the center. Cut 12 inches of 18-gauge wire to form the base frame of the bracelet.

Step 2

Take the 18-gauge wire and make a bend around 1 inch down from the end of the wire. Using bail step pliers form a loop that will be large enough to fit the hook end of the clasp through comfortably.

Step 3

Wrap the tail end of the wire from the loop around the straight section of the wire to create a wrapped loop to add security and strength to the loop. Trim and tuck in any sharp ends of the wire.

Step 4

Using both of the 22-gauge wires together, that are folded in half, secure them from the center underneath the wrapped loop. Keep the wires straight, so that one half are running horizontally on one side of the base frame wire and a pair running across the other side.

Step 5

Add on your first bead and position it down toward the wrapped loop underneath the crossed wires. Bring a pair of the wires from one side around the bead to frame it and back behind the base wire, so that it's facing the side it came from.

Step 6

Bring the other pair of wires from the opposite side around the bead, back behind the base wire and run them straight back to their starting side.

Step 7

Cross the first set of wires once over the base wire.

Step 8

Fold the second pair of wires across the top of the base wire, so that other pairs cross over each other and add on the next bead.

Step 9

Frame the bead in the same way as before, bringing the wires from one side together around the bead and traveling behind the base wire.

Step 10

Bring the wires from the other side around the other half of the bead making sure they sit flat next to each other to create a neat frame around the bead, before locking in place around the base wire.

Step 11

Cross the first set over the base wire once.

Step 12

Bring the second set across the base wire so that the pairs crisscross and swap positions.

Step 13

Add each bead onto the base wire and position the framing wires in the same order to keep consistency.

Continue to straighten out the 22-gauge wire ends to ensure they travel smoothly and sit flat paired next to each other.

Step 15

When curving the wire around the bead, gently push the wires back to expose the the bead.

Step 16

Apply slight pressure to the crossed wires with pliers to flatten out the framing wire.

Step 17

Add on the last bead and cross over the 22-gauge wire as usual.

Step 18

Measure approximately one inch from the last bead on the 18-gauge base wire.

Step 19

Create a bend in the wire so that it travels back down toward the beads.

Step 20

Trim the base wire when it reaches the point of the crossed 22-gauge wires.

Step 21

Using pliers compress the bend so that the base wire sits closely in on itself.

Step 22

Bind the base wire to itself by wrapping a pair of the 22-gauge tail ends around it.

Step 23

Trim any excess of this wrapped 22-gauge and tuck in firmly.

Wrap around the other 22-gauge pair so that it reaches the same point as the wrapped wires on the base wire, cutting off and tucking in firmly any sharp ends.

Step 25

Check that the loop of the clasp and beads are positioned on the bracelet accordingly and make any adjustments to the framing wires.

Position round-nose pliers in the center of the bent over section of the base wire.

Step 27

Fold the top half over away from the framing wires to form a hook, so that this is traveling back toward the beads.

Step 28

Curl up the tip at the bend of the base wire to create a flick.

Step 29

Carefully push in the tip towards itself.

Shape the bangle and hook the clasp together to close.
