Remembering the Fallen

One fateful day in September our lives changed in an instant. I still remember the phone call I received from my husband. He asked if I was watching the TV? I told him no, as I didn't normally watch TV in the morning... He said " Go turn it on, you won't believe what just happened.." and there was something in his voice, something frantic and scared. It was in those brief moments, as a nation, we were changed forever. I personally will never forget how I felt that day.

Today we commemorate one of the most dramatic attacks on our nation that most of us have seen or will ever see in our lifetime.

As I reflect on this important day, I think about how we, as creative artists, express our emotions. Some of us paint, some dance, and others sing.

For those of us who create art, it becomes a powerful expression of what we feel and think a reflection of our emotions and our inner voice.

Today, I want to share a few jewelry artists and how they express their feelings about 9/11.

I dedicate this post to the fallen heroes, to those who lost their lives on 9/11, and to all the service men and women who continue to fight for our daily freedoms.

"This story isn't just about the jewelry itself, but about why it was created.

We're in the hot August days of summer. School has started here in Georgia, and Labor Day is just around the corner.

But there's something else approaching something that, ten years ago, changed my family's life and thousands of others in ways we never could have imagined: September 11, 2001.

I've created four special pieces of jewelry in memory of all the lives lost and affected by that tragedy.

They serve as quiet reminders of lives changed, heroes who never expected to be made, and a nation united in the face of unspeakable horror.

These pieces are my personal expression of healing something to hold onto, something to remember.

We should never forget. I'm honored and proud to be an American.

Each necklace is simple yet deeply meaningful. Glass heart beads in red, white, and blue are individually hand-wired and attached to four different symbols: a five-point star, a single angel wing, a double angel wing, and an open heart.

Each necklace measures 19 inches long and closes with a lobster claw clasp.
