Markers are useful for drawing patterns, outlining a gemstone...even signing your name and the date you created the piece (on the back, of course). The uses are endless for permanent markers.... And so, unfortunately, are the possible frustrations!
Everyone in the civilized world has been frustrated at how to remove permanent marks from everything - including, but not limited to - fingers, clothing, furniture, walls, carpet, wood ... and even the occasional unlucky pet.
Wirewrappers can add 'wire' to that list.
What is it that makes this 'kisses and curses' ink so permanent?
According to Wikipedia: "In general, the ink comprises a main carrier solvent, a glyceride, a pyrrolidone, a resin and a colorant, making it water resistant. Like spray paint, these markers contain volatile organic compounds which evaporate to dry the ink."
Suffice it to say that permanent markers are...permanent. They come in many colors - some colors a bit more difficult to remove than others. Their many shapes and sizes can be extremely useful. And we'd all enjoy them more if they didn't have such a distinct, unpleasant odor that takes such a long time to disperse!
Fortunately, there's a 'fix' for almost everything - 'permanent' marks included - though the odor problem will, unhappily, remain...unless you opt for a 'scented' marker.
