The mural is made from tissue paper. The artist gave a new use for this traditionally used material in Latinx culture. It is generally thought of for creating piñatas. Elevating, and making more accessible the art and crafts culture, Favela, a first-generation Latinx-American, explores the paper craft medium with cultural identity, and pop culture in mind.
This artwork reminds me of road trips I have taken through the deserts of Arizona and New Mexico. Bold vistas, vibrant sunsets, the many colors of turquoise all inspired this 4 strand bracelet.
