Color inspiration - Desert Landscape

On a recent trip to the Denver Colorado Botanic Gardens, I went to an art exhibit within the gardens. Nevada artist, Justin Favela created "Vistas in Color - tissue paper and cardboard 2023." A panoramic landscape honoring the vistas of the southwest U.S. and Mexico. This photo is a slice of the whole installation. An expansive environment, this floor to ceiling artwork wrapped around the room.
The mural is made from tissue paper, a material traditionally used in Latinx culture for making piñatas.

The artist gives this material a new purpose, elevating and making the art and craft culture more accessible.

Favela, a first-generation Latinx-American, explores paper craft with cultural identity and pop culture in mind.

This artwork reminds me of road trips I have taken through the deserts of Arizona and New Mexico.

Bold vistas, vibrant sunsets, the many colors of turquoise all inspired this 4 strand bracelet.

Amber barrel beads, accented with blue turquoise and a single pale amber, form one strand of this desert-inspired bracelet.

A strand of jasper tubes represents the colors of sand, clay, and earth.

Myrtle green complements the deepest greens found in the turquoise stones.

The jewelry seems to glow on its own four strands of color wrapped around a desert landscape, bringing a piece of Denver back home.
