Color Inspiration - Sunset on the Lake

My mom and dad live on the edges of a lake in the middle of Nebraska. Those of you who have never been to Nebraska may have a preconceived notion of what the Nebraska landscape looks like. And I'm sure some of what you envision in your mind's eye is correct-flatlands, full of corn and wheat fields. Long stretches of highway, with farmland on either side, as far as the eye can see.
That's part of the reason I appreciate the little oasis where my parents live.

On one side of the big dam is a small lake surrounded by green grasses and huge trees.

On the other side of the dam is a 22-mile long reservoir that's used for all sorts of recreation, from fishing and beach combing, to parasailing and water skiing.

The reservoir repeatedly offers a stunning backdrop come sundown.

My mom has captured numerous photos like this one, where the sky is lit up with such vibrant hues that you can't take your eyes off of it until the colors fade away.

The summer sunset is the inspiration for this lively pair of earrings, right on trend with the sway of bright pink tassels and the energy of yellow and blue beads.
