Color Inspiration - Rugged Old Truck

During a late-October visit to the pumpkin patch at a local farm just a few miles outside of my hometown in Northern Colorado, I snapped this photo of an old pickup truck sitting near the corn maze.

When I was a child, my grandfather had a truck very similar to this one-I can still picture it sitting in front of my grandparents' modest home in small-town Nebraska and can almost smell the interior from those very rare and very fortunate occasions when my dad would take us for a ride. What a special memory to hold on to as the years have passed.

Looking at this photo, it was easy to derive a color palette that's perfect for both a fall and winter wardrobe. The slate blue and gray, mixed with a few taupe accents, would wear well with any winter outfit. For my necklace, however, I chose to create a fall necklace by selecting various hues of brown beads to complement the beautiful ceramic leaf pendant, then added just a hint of blue beads.

I hope this palette inspires you to create a wearable piece of jewelry, perfect for the fall or winter months ahead!
