Ever since I was a kid I was fascinated by magic, mojo and luck. I loved my Magic 8 Ball (I wish they'd make a come-back), turkey wish bones and 4 leaf clovers. I'd collect rocks, shells and nature's other baubles on every walk searching for magic in the Universe. I believed every gal needs a good talisman
Some of my jewelry pieces are made with the intention of bringing the wearer luck or good fortune. I have no proof that it works, but the meaning behind it makes me happy.

That is why I turned this cute little ribbon bag into a talisman.

A friend of mine made these by sewing two ribbons side by side. She gave me a few, and they ended up sitting on my worktable for ages, waiting to be finished.
While browsing through a gift shop, I stumbled upon a beautiful flower. I had no idea what kind it was, and I had never seen one before or since.

I snapped a photo to save it as jewelry inspiration.

When I got back to my studio and studied the flower, the little ribbon bag practically yelled from across the room to finish it. It made me wonder if anyone else has had that happen or if it is just me.

I added a vintage button to the front of the little bag and finished it with a stunning gemstone and pearl chain. Once I saw that flower, the talisman came together in a flash.

I often forget how delightful and impactful gemstone chains can be.

You can take almost any focal piece, pair it with a complementary gemstone chain, and the entire design instantly feels elevated.

Whether you believe in luck, black cats, a talisman or not, I hope this inspires you to consider using gemstone chains in your work.
