Color Inspiration - Playground Palette

There's one question I hear almost daily at my house: "Can we go to the park?" Even though my daughter is entering middle school, there's still something enticing about the playground. Perhaps she'll never outgrow the desire to climb and swing, to explore and burn off her boundless energy-at least I hope not.
The first color impression you get when looking at this photo is the neutral brown-and-green palette, with a pop of bright red. However, when you look closely, you can also pick out the blues and dark pinks. With such a fun subject matter in the photo, I decided that I really wanted to capture the kaleidoscope of colors for a playful necklace design.

I started by braiding three strands of skinny leather cord, stringing all three cords through a bead about every two to three inches. Then I created beaded dangles using 24-gauge wire to form wire coils and coiled bead caps. Lastly, I added a few mini tassels and two types of chain. The result? A spirited necklace with a Moroccan feel, combining lots of dangly movement and bright chain and beaded elements.
