Color Inspiration - On Grandma's Lap

One of my fondest early memories of visiting my grandma's house as a child was finding her in her "easy chair" in the living room, a basket of yarn at her feet and a crochet hook in her hand. While no particular projects stand out in my mind, I do know she made numerous hats and blankets over her lifetime. She was a seamstress as well, so I imagine she crocheted any number of sweaters or other garments through the years, too.
My daughter tends to be one of those lucky individuals that seemingly takes to new things easily. When she was seven or eight years old, I found her in her room knitting contentedly. She had taught herself how to cast on by looking at the drawings and instructions in a book of mine. She is eager to try crochet next, so I imagine that will be a good indoor activity for us, whiling away the hours during cold winter days.
This photo reminds me so much of my daughter and her desire to create with yarn.

For my necklace, I used 18-gauge wire to form two hoops, using a ball-peen hammer to work-harden and texture them. I used 24-gauge wire to wrap beads above and below the hoops, as well as to add a strand of beads to the leather strap. While I used Swarovski crystal pearls, you could use glass rounds in your choice of colors.
