One of my fave Caribbean cruises had a port stop at the beautiful island of Martinique. The French inspiration and beautiful unspoiled soft white sand beaches were just like a postcard! Grande Anse des Salines was by far the best beach of the trip and I spent all day mesmerized by the dancing ocean waves. There were so many different shades and hues of blue, I simply had to take a bazillion pictures to capture them all. I think we gloss over the obvious sometimes and think an ocean color is just blue but upon mindful observation, you can see it's sea foam and teal and celedon (just to name a few of the blues and greens). And it's the combination of them all together that gives such a rich and deeply layered pallet.
I used three different colors of 20 gauge wire and wire wrapped a variety of resin beads to achieve a sea glass effect. You could use and bead type but I think glass beads look the best! A lobster clasp added to a chain for comfort around your neck and allows for an adjustable length. It's a quick and very gratifying project that's fun to wear during the cold Colorado winters as a reminder of that spectacular beach vacation and beloved Martinique!
