Color Inspiration - Grand Staircase

This beautiful stairway is one of many at the Biltmore Estate, set in the Blue Ridge mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. A magnificent home which belonged to George Vanderbilt, it is now part of a National Historic Landmark known as America's Largest Home. Tours can be taken all seasons of the year. A photographers dream, both inside the house, and outside in the gardens. The architecture is astounding.

Morning light shone on this polished black metal staircase. The mottled greys of the marble stairs reflected the partly cloudy light from the large windows.

The curve and color of the railing inspired my four-strand onyx and silver bead bracelet.

Geometric diamond-shaped four-hole spacer beads are placed across the entire bracelet like balusters on a stairway.

The alternating black and silver beads provide the decorative structure of an upper handrail and lower base rail.

An elegant length of handcrafted beauty, I imagine a guest wearing a sleeveless velvet dress walking down the steps, wearing this bracelet to dinner at the mansion.
