Color Inspiration - Glacier Blues

A few years ago I was fortunate enough to teach beading classes on an Alaskan cruise. It was one of my travel highlights! We spent half a day in Glacier Bay and I just couldn't comprehend the variety of blues reflected in the water and ice of the glacier. I vowed to memorize those colors to use in future jewelry projects so here's one of them!
This photo of Hubbard Glacier, taken by a friend, captures its stunning colors and beauty perfectly I had to use it!

Hubbard Glacier is 76 miles long, 6 miles wide, and 1,200 feet deep, rising over 300 feet above the water.

Located off the coast of Yakutat, it's the largest tidewater glacier in North America.

Nicknamed the "Galloping Glacier" because of its rapid movement toward the Gulf of Alaska through Disenchantment Bay.

The rich, varied hues of this color palette inspired me to create a seed bead mix that captures the glacier's shimmer.

This is a perfect project for using up your size 15 "bead soup"!

To make your own glacier blue bead mix, blend 3 to 6 different shades of blue beads.
