Color Inspiration - Fall Foliage

Just like spring that comes alive when colorful blossoms start to push their way through the ground and trees start to bloom, the fall season makes its debut when leafy trees turn red, orange, and golden yellow. Though spectacular foliage can be seen in town, where my family and I live in Colorado it has become a tradition for throngs of people to flock to the mountains during the weekend to see the changing leaves.

I love the warm colors showcased in this photo of trees in the Colorado mountains. I derived a palette of goldenrod, orange, and brick red, plus light and dark blue. From there, I arranged groups of faceted-glass and pressed-glass beads so that the blues were at the top of the necklace, depicting the sky, and the reds, oranges, and yellows flowed down toward the bottom, similar to leaves falling down. I then created links using gold and red wire.
