Color Inspiration - Autumn Pearls

Taking the dogs for a walk in the Adirondack Lake region of New York on an autumn afternoon I stopped for a moment and focused my camera on the humus beneath me.
The oak-wooded grounds were shining in the soft afternoon light, just before the sunset's glow.

The acorns scattered across the forest floor looked like beads broken from a necklace and strewn through the woodland.

With shades ranging from light camel to rusty browns and deep earth tones, the color palette hinted at cooler days ahead.

At a recent bead show, I was inspired when I discovered an unusual variegated strand of pearls.

Though the color palette in my photo didn't capture the tiny green grasses underfoot, this five-strand bracelet includes lovely evergreen pearls alongside brass, copper, taupe, and tumbleweed tones.

Flat round copper beads accent each row, creating an asymmetry that is both eye-catching and grounding.

Adding copper crimps, typically used to secure wire designs, brings extra richness to this season's tones.

The wire-wrapped pearl charms dangling from the final row add delightful movement to the wrist.
