This week’s tool: Steel and Rubber Bench Block

Demonstration by Kate, JewelryTools.com

This 2" x 2" bench block is ideal for hammering on to harden ear wires, S-clasps, and other handmade findings and connections in your wire jewelry. Use a domed chasing hammer for beautiful, smooth strokes or a textured hammer for some interesting lines or a rough finish.

The 2" steel bench block rests in a rubber holder, which reduces noise and provides a slip-free surface for your block. You can also hammer on the rubber surface for even greater protection against scratching and denting.
