I love to play with chain!  This basic necklace is easy to make, just attach a lobster claw clasp to one end of a 20-inch length of chain and only a headpin charm to the other. Note: A jump ring is not needed here because the clasp will fit into the chains’ links.

To style it into a lavaliere, attach a white sapphire pendant to the center and add two chain festoons with jump rings.

The balance is achieved by adding a headpin charm to each side of the festoons.  Simple elegance!

The Perfect Chain:

When you need sturdy chains  these will make your jewelry look wonderful and last you or your customers for years to come.

I’d love to get into using chains for necklaces but have had one or two bad experiences with chain that I thought was good quality when I bought it but turned dark when I wore it. Copper and other metals turn color quickly on my skin so I think I’m ‘one of those’ people who are hard on metals :</ I end up using leather or cording which looks nice but is more casual and I'd like to make a few dressier necklaces. Any tips on how to tell the quality of chain – silver plate, copper, etc?
